Penis root / penile root

Med.: Radix penis

The root of the penis (med.: radix penis) connects the shaft of the penis and the penis glans to the pelvic area of the man - it therefore defines the beginning of the male member on the body. This connection is held in place by muscles and ligaments.

Compared to the glans or the testicles, the base of the penis is one of the least sexually sensitive parts of the male member. However, it is of crucial importance when measuring penis size because it is the starting point of the measurement on the body.

In some cases, the penis root is used to achieve stronger, harder and longer-lasting erections by tying off the penis using a so-called "cock ring". With these methods, however, there is always a risk of strangulation of the penis with sometimes irreversible damage to the penile tissue.
