The glans of the penis

Does a circumcised penis have advantages?

A basic distinction is made between the circumcised penis and the uncircumcised penis. In uncircumcised men, the glans is generally completely covered by the foreskin when the penis is not erect. During an erection, the foreskin retracts from the glans, leaving it exposed.

Function of the glans

The glans of the penis is decisive for a man's sense of pleasure. With a circumcised penis, it is generally assumed that the sensation of pleasure is greatly reduced due to the "scarring" of the glans compared to uncircumcised men. However, as only very few men have themselves circumcised at an advanced age, the subjective observer usually lacks a direct comparison here. For the sexual act itself, however, a circumcised penis has neither advantages nor disadvantages compared to its uncircumcised counterpart.

Cultural aspects of circumcision

In our culture, circumcision of the foreskin is usually carried out at a very early age and is primarily carried out for health reasons (foreskin constriction) or due to the parents' views on hygiene. In other cultures, however, a circumcised penis is often motivated by religious or cultic reasons.
